The renovated Grand Hotel, housed in one of Birmingham’s most famous buildings located on the city’s prestigious Colmore Row, will once again open its doors to the public in the summer of 2020, following an extensive and details restoration to return the city centre landmark to its former glory.
Featuring 185 bedrooms and extraordinary suites, an outdoor terrace, glamorous new bars and a vibrant destination restaurant – as well as the magnificent centrepiece that is the Grosvenor Room, this property is set to capture the imagination of the city. The hotel will also have a number of state-of-the-art, inspirational rooms and space for meetings and events of all sizes.
What is the main purpose of the role?
Maximise all accommodation revenues by delivering and exceeding customer expectations from the first point of contact through the entire booking procedure for all external accommodation business. You will receive, handle and convert all accommodation enquiries, ensuring they are dealt with in a professional and efficient manner by communicating with clients throughout the booking process to ensure full understanding and management of client requirements and identification of further opportunities.
The role will focus on ensuring that your profit centre is operated in line with driving revenue, EBITDA and incremental conversion, and you will regularly strategically analyse your department performance to facilitate accurate and meaningful forecasting.
We are also looking for someone to create a supportive, fun and creative working environment developing talent and demanding a quality and standard driven approach throughout each and every member of the team.
The Ideal Candidate
Ideally you will have experience running a Reservations department in a similar size property and it is essential that you have some experience in training and developing a team. Highly developed organisational skills are a necessity, alongside exceptional analytical skills. A proven ability to manage rates effectively is a must in order to be successful in this role, while previous experience with Opera would be a definite advantage.
